What is the Rooted in Writing Box?
The Rooted in Writing Box is a monthly subscription designed to inspire young children to fall in love with storytelling and creative expression. Each box includes thoughtfully crafted activities, prompts, and materials that make writing playful, hands-on, and joyful—especially for early learners.
Who is the box designed for?
Our boxes are specially designed for children ages 3–6, when imagination, early literacy, and fine motor development skills are blossoming.
However, older children—especially those who are reluctant or hesitant writers—may also benefit from the engaging, low-pressure activities inside.
We believe parents know their children best. You are welcome to choose activities that fit your child’s developmental stage, interests, and needs.
Why is early writing so important?
Early exposure to storytelling, pre-writing skills, and creative language play helps children develop confidence, communication skills, and a love of learning that lasts a lifetime. By introducing writing in a gentle, creative way, we nurture both literacy and imagination.
How does the subscription work?
First, decide if you’d like to purchase a one-time box or start a recurring subscription (monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, or annual).
Next, choose whether to add the Seedling Set (sibling add-on) for an additional $10 per box, so each child has their own set of key materials.
Prices shown on our website will automatically update based on your selections.

What is the Seedling Set?
The Seedling Set is a sibling add-on option for families with more than one child who want to enjoy the activities together. For an additional $10 per box, you’ll receive extra key materials so each child can participate fully without having to share the main components.
If I purchase multiple boxes in advance, will I get them all at once?
No — even if you choose a quarterly, semi-annual, or annual subscription (or purchase multiple boxes in advance), you will still receive one box per month. This ensures your child has time to fully explore and enjoy each month’s activities before the next one arrives.
When will my box ship?
Boxes are shipped once a month, typically during the first week of the month. You’ll receive a tracking number via email once your box is on its way.
How much is shipping?
We charge a flat rate of $6 per box for shipping, no matter where you are in the U.S. This means:
Monthly / 1 Box – $6 per month
Quarterly / 3 Boxes – $18 per quarter
Semi-Annual / 6 Boxes – $36 every six months
Annual / 12 Boxes – $72 per year
Shipping costs are added to your total at checkout and reflect your subscription plan.
What is your return and refund policy?
We want you to love your Rooted in Writing Box! If an item arrives damaged or incomplete, please contact us within 7 days of delivery at rootedinwritingbox@gmail.com so we can make it right.
Due to the nature of our products, we generally cannot accept returns or offer refunds for boxes that have already shipped. If you have concerns about your subscription or need to pause or cancel, please reach out before your next billing date.
Can I give this as a gift?
Absolutely! You can purchase a gift subscription and include a special message. Just select the gift option at checkout.
Do you ship internationally?
At this time, we ship only within the United States. We hope to expand in the future!
How do I update my subscription or address?
